Service Description

Journey Towards Neutrality: A 2-Day Neutral Mask Workshop Step into the silence of the neutral mask and rediscover the foundation of presence, clarity, and expression. Journey Towards Neutrality is an immersive 2-day workshop for actors, performers, educators, and curious movers. Through breath, stillness, and physical exploration, participants will return to the “zero point” — the place before character. Rooted in the physical theatre lineage of Jacques Copeau, Suzanne Bing and Jacques Lecoq, the neutral mask is a profound tool of transformation. It carries no expression, no drama — yet it opens a powerful space of awareness. By wearing the neutral mask, the actor becomes a mirror: revealing unconscious habits, movement patterns, and emotional signatures that shape how we meet the world. This work asks deep, poetic questions: Can the actor reach a state of full, engaged presence? What happens when the body speaks, but the face remains still? What remains when story and identity are stripped away? Can the performer not only move through time and space, but become them? The neutral mask is a gateway to the “neutral state”: a calm, embodied presence that holds the infinite potential of performance. Like a white canvas before a painting, it is the stillness before the beginning — the foundation for all character, rhythm, and drama to emerge. This workshop invites you to: Develop presence through stillness and breath Build a stronger foundation for character and movement work Cultivate heightened physical awareness Explore space, impulse, and rhythm without narrative Let go of habitual patterns and return to the essentials Duration: 2 Days September 6th and 7th Saturday and Sunday: 10:00am - 5pm Level: Open to all levels – no prior mask experience necessary What to Bring: Comfortable clothing, water, a notebook, and an open mind
