Service Description

The Actors Monologue: MASK WORK FOR ACTORS 14th - 15th of February, 2026 Saturday and Sunday: 10.00 am - 6.00 pm Through intensive physical actor training, this workshop will provide participants an in-depth exploration of the deep holistic presence between body, voice and imagination when working with text. Budi Miller Taksu Training (BMTT), Mask Work and Fitzmaurice Voicework® offer performers a safe environment where they can tap into parts of themselves that they haven't yet explored, as well as releasing the parts of their artistry that has been held when performing. Taksu is a performance energy that the Balinese say is the moment when the energy of the divine appears. The embryo of taksu lives in everyone, and it has different names in other cultures. For example, the Spanish call it dunede, the French elan, the Japanese call it the blossoming flower of hana and the Yoruba people call it ase. It is more commonly known to athletes as the zone. Training in masks unlock the deep knowledge of the physical and emotional body. This is a body free from judgment, guilt, shame or punishment. With a free body, participants will begin to open the gateways to the energy of taksu. BMTT empowers actors to move past the pedestrian linear experience of average thought rooted in the ego driven self and into an unlimited inspired actor’s imagination. The release breath work of Fitzmaurice Voicework® was created by Catherine Fitzmaurice and influenced by the work of Alexander Lowen's Bioenergetic Tremors, yoga stretches, shiatzu, and reiki. There is an expansive release of the respiratory system, vocal tract and accompanying skeletal musculature with the aid of physical ‘dynamic efforts’ and is where actors are introduced to the energy of breath. Participants will begin to experience the power of a free torso while discovering the different passageways of breath throughout the body and how they connect to the imagination. Participants will be guided through a moment-to-moment flow of consciousness where actors surrender to their images and inspired inner voices while engaging with their inner landscape of the simultaneous expression of body and a voice. Actors begin to tap into powerful impulses to harnessed in their acting.
